What is Crossfit?
Crossfit is a strength and conditioning program that is focused on GPP (General physical preparedness). This means that any task life throws at us we have a base we can work from, be it work or sport.
We do this by constantly varying our work outs in length, load, combination of movements, and overall repetitions. We also choose movements that are functional, which means they have an application both inside and outside of the gym. Lastly, we pull from many different sources to create well rounded athletes. This includes weight lifting, gymnastics, running, rowing, and much more.
It is our goal to teach you the movements you need to know and how to apply your own unique ability and experience to get the most out of your workouts. The beautiful thing about Crossfit is how adaptable it is to each individual. Whether young or old, already in shape or just getting back into it - anyone can participate.
Crossfit truly is for anyone that wants to empower themselves and take control of their health and fitness, we all need to be able to push, pull, squat, run, jump etc. These are basic competencies we need to be healthy and move around our environment. All of this takes place in a class setting with a coach and group of like minded individuals. Your coach will help you make sense of the daily work out and fit it to your needs and abilities. Your classmates are your community and they will be working out alongside you, sharing the same experience, cheering and sweating until the last athlete has finished!
CrossFit can be intimidating but I assure you, it’s not nearly as ‘scary’ as your mind is making it out to be.
Crossfit can look intimidating if you’ve never tried it. Don’t worry we’ve got your back! During our foundations program we will get you comfortable with everything you need to know to be successful - the movements, the language, and the general class structure. All you need to do is show up and we handle the rest.Still not sure?
What to expect?
All of our classes are group classes lead by a highly qualified and generally badass coach. You will share the class with fellow fitness enthusiasts as you are guided through the hour long session. You will be provided with a warm up, then an in-depth look at the daily work out (WOD), followed by a breakdown and review of the movements.
Once questions have been answered and everyone has their equipment set up we start the clock...3..2..1..Go! This is where you (the athlete) get to shine, this is your time to forget about work, blow off some stress, throw down with your friends and get fit!
