THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS FITNESS
Common questions and concerns when starting CrossFit.
It looks too difficult for me
CrossFit is meant to be challenging. If you’ve seen the CrossFit Games or other high level competition it can be intimidating. The good news is that challenge should be scaled to fit each person's individual ability. We call this scaling and it is universal meaning we can take any work out and scale it to work for any individual.
I’m too out of shape to do CrossFit
No matter where you are starting from each work out can be customized and scaled to fit your individual needs. Our coaches are experts in the process of scaling with the end goal of taking the daily work out (WOD) and adapting it to each individual.
I don’t know how to lift weights or do gymnastics.
Each and every movement has building blocks, progressions and scaling options. In our foundations program you will learn the fundamentals you need to understand and perform all the movements you will be see in a regular class. When we teach movements we deliver them in digestible pieces so they can be learned and performed well, with safety and consistency.
I’m not competitive enough for CrossFit
CrossFit is only as competitive as you make it. You are first and foremost competing with yourself! This means giving your best effort in each work out so you see continued progress. If you want to quit your day job to become the fittest on earth that's up to you.
What the Intro Session gets you
Fill out the Getting Started form and we will contact you to set up an Intro Session.
During this session we will take you through a workout. This will give you a chance to check out the facility, get a feel for what a CrossFit workout is like and ask any questions you may have.
During the intro we will learn about you and your goals, you will learn about CrossFit and our community. We will also run through what is next: the Foundations.
What is Foundations
Foundations is a 4 week introduction to CrossFit. You don’t need any prior experience or certain level of fitness, just a willingness to learn and improve. Each class is 1 hour long and shares the same basic structure. We start with a general warm up, we learn a new movement, then we practice our movement in a workout suited for all levels.
Through the first 2 weeks we will learn and practice movements that you will see regularly in our program. We will start with basic building blocks and continue using those blocks to build more complex movements over time. The 3rd and 4th weeks will be spent integrating into the normal flow of classes. Though your class will still be mainly beginners you will have the opportunity to mix with and meet our current members.
